The theory is that as a solid wood instrument ages, it has potential to sound better. That's not always the case. A solid wood ukulele will generally cost more but doesn't necessarily translate to a better instrument. It shouldn't be the only thing considered when buying an instrument.
Well, who are you? For a small child up to about 8 the soprano seems to be the easiest to handle. Anyone can enjoy playing a soprano but as hands and arms grow it becomes easier to fret a concert or tenor because the frets are further apart.
